Day 1 - Which Workbook Should You Use To Learn Japanese?
TL;DR: I'm using Japanese Kanji and Kana Workbook by Hadamitzky & Spahn, but really its entirely possible to learn for free. You don't need to spend any money on workbooks at all.
TL;DR: I'm using Japanese Kanji and Kana Workbook by Hadamitzky & Spahn, but really its entirely possible to learn for free. You don't need to spend any money on workbooks at all. Get a pen and some paper, then practice writing out the hiragana and katakana syllabaries at least 30-50 times for each character following the correct stroke order (hiragana strokes) (katakana strokes). When you're ready to move on to kanji, use the Kyoiku Kanji list, which was specifically developed to teach kanji to first through sixth grade students. Remember, most languages are meant to be spoken, so once you have hiragana and katakana memorized, your time will best be spent learning to speak before attempting to write and memorize thousands of kanji.
